Kate Musso Migues is a passionate and dedicated educator, a certified teacher with a wealth of knowledge and 15 years of experience teaching high school students. Beyond her professional accomplishments, she is a wife and a loving adoptive mom of two, living in New Iberia. In addition to her teaching credentials, Kate has completed over 50 hours in specialized adoption education training, further enhancing her expertise and ensuring that she delivers the highest quality presentations and workshops in her areas of expertise. Her unique combination of teaching prowess, parenting experience, and continuous learning make her a dynamic and relatable presenter, capable of inspiring and educating audiences from all walks of life.

New Orleans Area

Kimberly’s heart for the unborn and for adoption is unparalleled to many, as she herself has walked through the trials of a teenage unplanned pregnancy, and making the choice for open adoption. Kimberly Shultz is a birth-mother of 25 years to a remarkable young man. Kimberly is also a wife and mother to three more beautiful boys. Kim is very active in her community. She volunteers at her local church, Crisis Pregnancy Center and Louisiana Right to Life. In addition to Kimberly’s passion for adoption, she also has a degree in Education and loves working with her students. “Option Hope is such an impactful resource for our young students to be empowered by learning the truth about adoption, combating the common and widespread misconceptions. I am so excited to combine my two passions in life: adoption and teaching! Our mission is to share the truth and history of adoption with the young students in our Louisiana schools.”

JAMES GARVEY - President of Option Hope

James "Jim" Garvey is proud to serve as the President of Option Hope to further adoption education in schools.  As a father of two children who were adopted and a long-time member of the BESE, Jim has a passion for both education and adoption.

Garvey served as an elected member of the State Board of Elementary and Secondary Education (BESE) for 16 years, from 2008 through 2024.  Garvey currently serves as the Executive Council for the Louisiana Workforce Commission.

Garvey has been active in many community organizations and boards, including Teach For America, the Jefferson Parish Education Foundation, the Jefferson Parish Economic Development Commission, the Metropolitan Battered Women's Program and the Governor's Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention Advisory Board.

Garvey and his wife, Katharine Clarie Garvey, have four children, two of whom were adopted.
